Alexey Pertev, co-founder of Tornado Cash, has been released from prison and placed under electronic surveillance as he prepares to appeal his conviction of money laundering related to the Crypto Mixer platform.

A Dutch court canceled Pertertev’s storage of advance, with His release scheduled to today, February 7.
The decision follows several denied requests for bail and comes in the midst of ongoing debates about the legal treatment of privacy -focused crypto developers.
His case has attracted support from privacy advocates and the crypto community, with organizations such as Justicao raise money for its legal defense. Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin Donated 30 eth to Tornado Cash Legal Defense Fund in May.

In November, a Federal appealed court decided that the Treasury’s sanctions on Tornado Continces were illegal and highlight restrictions on the government’s regulatory power over decentralized technology.
The sanctions had previously affected users whose means were locked or who were blocked from exchanges due to interactions with sanctioned addresses.
