Crypto Exchange Coinbase was aware of a customer data coverage with its outsourcing partner, Taskus, as early as January, months before its public disclosure in May, Reuters reported Monday, with reference to six people with knowledge of the event.
Taskus Insiders told Reuters that a worker in India snapped a photo of his computer screen with his personal phone. In exchange for bribery, the employee and a suspected accomplishment are believed to have shared Coinbase customer data with cyber criminals.

The incident came up after Coinbase initiated one $ 20 million reward programs to identify and prosecute those responsible for the event. The company stated that bribed customer service agents leaked customers’ information, but the violation did not compromise passwords, private keys or customer funds.
