A political firestorm brews in Potomac Falls, Virginia, where US President Donald Trump will host a controversial dinner for top holders of his Meme coin, $ Trump. But the limelight is not just on Gala’s glitter – it’s on crypto corruption. Democratic legislators, watchdogs and grassroots activists rally against what they call the latest example of political bribes aged digital currency.
Gather against cryptocorcing
The protest, organized under the banner “America is not for sale”, is scheduled to take place outside the Trump National Golf Club. Rally, led by a progressive group our revolution, will include visual demonstrations, banners reading “Stop Crypto Corruption” and comments from American Senator Jeff Mercley (D-or).
According to our Revolution’s press release, the gala is not just a party but a reward system with high efforts: the 220 best holders of Trump’s Meme coins are invited, with the 25 best promised a “VIP White House tour.” This, claims critics, is an obvious example of crypto corruption and foreign influence in US policy.
“The $ Trump coin is less about memes and more about money and power,” said Public Citizen with president Robert Weissman. “Trump auctioned access to our democracy. This is not only unethical, it is dangerous.”
Foreign influence and great money policy
Blockchain data reveals that almost $ 150 million has been collected through the Trump coin, and many of its large holders are based outside the United States. Trump It yourself is to become one of the world’s richest crypto holders if the coin’s value continues to climb. Critics are worried that foreign units could use digital assets to curl in American politics and circumvent traditional financial rules and openness.
This concern is not new. The Watchdog Group Common Cause has already submitted a complaint to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and claims that our revolution – the very group that organized the protest – also accepted large, impeccable donations in violation of soft money laws. But activists claim that their assignment is rooted in liability, not the impact.
“This is not about a group or coin,” Weissman said. “It’s about stopping crypto corruption before it becomes the new norm.”
A larger pattern of pay-to-games?
Trump’s Meme coin dinner is only the latest in a number of incidents that raise ethical issues. From a rumored Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) car show on the White House’s lawn to a potential donation of a luxury beam from Qatar, critics say that Trump blurs the boundaries between public service and private profit.
“His presidency has become a luxurious auction,” said a demonstrator. “What is the next, NFT for cabinets?”
Trump’s camp has not responded to the protest plans, but sources close to the event indicate that dinner will move on as scheduled.
The future of crypto and campaigns
The demonstration emphasizes a growing problem in Washington: how to regulate the intersection of crypto and political influence. When digital assets such as Stablecoins and Meme coins become more mainstream, legislators fight with the potential for abuse.
Calls for reform grow higher. Activists and legislators are pushing for stricter rules for crypto -based campaign grants and increased openness on digital assets by public officials.
“Crypto corruption is a problem from the 21st century, and we need laws from the 21st century to fight it,” Senator Mercley said.
