President Donald Trump on Thursday issued the President’s Parks to Bitmex founders Arthur Hayes, Benjamin Delo and Samuel Reed, according to a new Report from CNBC.
The trio established Bitmex 2014, with Hayes as CEO. The Seycheller-based platform has become a key actor in cryptoderiva trading, specializing in eternal contracts and future.
In October 2020, the founders of Bitmex were indicted by US authorities for violation of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA). They were alleged to have failed to implement adequate measures against money laundering (AML), including the establishment of a “Know Your Customer” (KYC) program.
The authorities claimed that Bitmex’s operational model allowed users to trade anonymously and effectively turn the platform into a potential management for illegal financial operations, including money laundering and sanction of exceptions.
In May 2022, the Court made both a civilian monetary penalty of $ 10 million for each and a ban on future violations of the Products Act and Regulations established by Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Hayes received a two -year trial. Delo was sentenced to 30 months of provision and Samuel Reed to 18 months. Their leadership roles ended in 2020 due to legal complications, with Vivien Khoo who entered as Interim CEO.
